Salvation

What does it mean to be saved?  Salvation means what Jesus described to Nicodemus in the gospel of John chapter 3, is a "born again" experience.  An experience in which the Holy Spirit moving in your life to draw you to God and to a relationship with Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. In Romans 10:9-11 Paul says, "That if we confess with our mouth Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." He goes on to say that it is with your heart that you believe and are justified.  It is with you mouth that you confess and are saved.  As the scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in Him will never be put to shame".  Meaning, as it says in 1John 1:9 that if we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

In simple terms, this is the born again experience.  By making this confession, you are now saved.  What has been done according to John 1:12, is that you have now become a child of God.  As a child of God, you now are a new creation, your past sins have been forgiven by Him. You now can begin to experience the freedom that comes from knowing Jesus Christ as your Savior.
